First class livery & interiors for First TPE train fleet

The Transpennine Express rail franchise is operated by First Group and services routes in the North of England and Scotland. Its fleet is made up of Class 350/4 and 185 Desiro rolling stock manufactured and maintained by Siemens.

We have worked with First Group and Siemens on the TPE franchise for over 10 years. We've been responsible for several livery design changes including the "dynamic lines" train wraps that adorned many of the First Group franchises until recently.

We provide a complete train presentation, branding and refurbishment service for the operator to ensure its trains are always in the best condition and improving the passenger experience.

Our latest work has helped the franchise rebrand to its distinctive star burst design, evolved from its smart new logo.

Great train passenger environment key to success

For any train operator, keeping the fleet at its optimum operationally and aesthetically is key to delivering the best service and experience for its passengers.

It's also important in ensuring penalties for poor service and presentation are limited and that the asset condition is maximised for the rolling-stock owner.

That makes our brief simple:

  • Implement new corporate livery designs across the train fleet
  • Provide protection from graffiti attacks
  • Manage the maintenance of the livery and train exteriors
  • Refurbish the exterior of the rolling-stock
  • Refresh the interiors of the passenger environment
  • Provide additional branding services

Rail rebrand and refurb projects expertly managed

Working closely with Siemens, we manage the full exterior refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of the TPE fleet. We've provided proactive repairs to the train body and livery with our staff based on site, dealing with ballast, stone chip and graffiti damage.

With the recent rebrand, we produced and installed new livery across the train fleet using a fully compliant 3M 180/8993 specification with anti-graffiti laminate protection and comprehensive 6 year Premium Rail Warranty.

It also gave First TPE and Siemens the perfect opportunity to undertake significant refurbishment projects on the trains. This involved us fully refurbishing the carriage body before the new wrap was applied, carrying out corrosion treatment, preparing and painting carriage roofs and respraying cab fronts.

Moving inside the train, we played a key part in the interior refresh of the trains. Refurbishing and painting various internal areas, spot paint repairs to internal surfaces and graphic wraps to the inside and outside of passenger toilets. Additionally we've manufactured and installed our Auraflex™ printed laminate to bulkheads and table-tops, along with dusted crystal window films for interconnecting doors and all the safety and information labels.
